Key to the Garden

Description

Is love a flower that must be tended, or is it a secret garden that must be unlocked? “Key to the Garden” is about the unstoppable desire to find a path to what you desire most. In this painting we find a bird bathed in luminous light. It has been searching for a key to that very garden. But its efforts have proven fatal. Ironically, death has proven that the garden was inside him the whole time. Painted in a chiaroscuro style, the darkness gives way to a school of gold fish, attracted to the burgeoning garden that has been revealed. The sense of light is created through a glazing process, layering very thin coats of monochrome color over a black and white underpainting.
